Life's a walk in the park

This morning we woke up and got out of the house.

The thing is, if I stay home, I will clean.
Even if I just did yesterday, I will find something.
I'm completely aware that I am a real life episode of "Obsessed."
Lucas has even caught on and will grab a broom any chance he can get and start to sweep or wipe up something.
At least when they get married they'll be well versed in the art of house cleaning :)

We were the only ones at the park today!
How lucky we were.

I'm realizing as I get more wrinkles, that I love being outside.
I love the sun on my skin.

The sound of birds.
The smell of the air.
The breeze thru the trees.

And I think me & Judy Farmer are on the same page.
I really hope heaven has trees too.

Happy Wednesday Friends! xo

Mod Podge

I up-cycled an old mannequin torso which was in desperate need of a makeover. She was pretty beat up poor girl.

And thanks to a few old books and a bottle of Mod Podge she has a whole new look.

I can't wait to put her up in our new booth.
She'll be perfect for necklaces.

Easter Part two

Sunday we woke up to rain.
I don't especially love the rain, it really effects my mood.
I wake up gloomy and I really don't like that.

After church, were the boys had a special performance (well Brandon was the only one who actually showed up, Ayden decided he just doesn't sing), we headed to my mother in laws.
I'm really lucky to have such a great one.
The boys played football and I sat on the grass looking at the clouds,
feeling completely comatose.

I'm sure I gained 5 pounds,

thanks to a serious dose of Easter crack...(except if this were "the office" my crack would be more like scrapbooking...if you don't watch the office that probably made zero sense. For me though, I laugh every time I think about it.)

And today I woke up feeling like a slug.
I have some serious recovery work to do at the gym this week.

I hope you had a great Easter weekend!

Easter Party

Easter at my grandma's is a tradition.

It's my constant:

There will always be ham,
green bean casserole,
jello of some kind,
egg dying,
and about a billion easter egg hunts.

Because one is just never enough.

And I know that these moments at my grandmas' house for holiday's won't last forever. And lately that has been on my mind more than ever. She has been the one who created these traditions, these memories, and I don't think I'd be the mom I am if it wasn't for her. She's old school and they don't make'em like her anymore.

(my sister is pregnant...and was eating jello & pickles. )

(Lucas discovered jelly beans)

Practice x2

So this week in my quest to take a better picture, I practiced some more on my trio.

What I realized that when taking pictures of kids with props you have to expect the unexpected.
The balloons WILL pop.
One will have a goofy face,
my baby will want to explore the hobo' playground,
and he couldn't for the life of him stand on the crate?

But in the end, I think I got some really great "quirky" photos of them.

Moving Up!

Remember when I told you that we had been dreaming about opening an actual brick & mortar?

Well, we've finally decided to take the plunge.
Our booth has done great, but it's small and half of the stuff we have just can't fit.

And we are beginning to REALLY look like hoarders.

And when you find something in life that you love doing, why not take the chance? You can't ever succeed without trying right?
And we have such a passion for mid century.
We live and breath this stuff.
I even dream about it, I love it so much.

And since our house is already packed full of it, and our garage runneth' over we've decided that to run our own shop is the next thing for us.

I know it'll be awhile to get it up and running,
so much is involved in opening a shop,
but I really can't wait.

Practice

One of my goals before I turned 30 was to learn to take a manual photo.
Well 30 came and went...and nada.

So this week I decided to take my camera and the manual and make friends.

And today I played with shutter speed...

Some are pretty rough, and I need a TON of practice.
Man it's hard not using auto! But my kids are cute.

Decorating your space

Whenever you move, new decor just seems to go along with your new digs.
And if you ask me, it's one of the greatest things about moving!

And Restyle on etsy has been one of my favorite places to find art.
So far I've got two of her prints in our house...

One for my love of Cathrineholm and one for Ayden's room, and his love of Star Wars.

And there are so many more that I am lusting after.

All her prints are modern, and danish inspired.

My favorite combo.

Mister

Kyle has been on vacation ALL WEEK.
It's been awesome.

On Monday I woke up super excited because I knew each day we'd be thrifting and eating food not cooked my me, at places other than my kitchen.
And I just can't think of a better vacation (honestly).

Although I have to admit, thrifting lately has been a total bust.
Is the IE completely picked over?

We are beginning to think venturing to the neighboring senior citz cities might be in the cards.

Seniors always have the greatest treasures.
And since I truly consider myself to be a senior in a 30 year old body, it sounds like alotta fun.

Kyle,
If you read this, thanks for a good week. You really are my best friend and believe it or not hanging with you is my favorite thing to do (when you're grumpy though, not so much).
And I do love you.
Thanks for staying up late with me eating cereal and watching The Kennedy's.

xo,
your wife.

Tour de' Redlands?

The Redlands Bike Classic was no joke!

Parents were huddled around their kids like it was half time at a football game.
It was serious down there.

True Story:
A 5 year old boy next to Ayden tells me, "Um, excuse me MAM' but I'm going to beat your son!"

Ayden then looks at him and says, "I don't think so."

It was a tough crowd.

But in the end, Ayden placed 2nd and his friend Stella placed 3rd!
It was the most exciting 50 yard race I've ever watched.

Next up was Brandon and if I thought the 5 years old were tough,
Brandon might as well have raced Lance Armstrong.
These kids looked GOOD.
My sweet boy didn't know what hit him.

His race was a little under a mile and he kicked butt.
He was the first kid to win on a BMX bike!
I was proud. He was bummed he didn't get a medal like his brother....
BUT we always have next year.

Fake Photographer

Yesterday I played "photographer."
Pretending is so much fun.

We ran around Oak Glen and trespassed to find the perfect spot, I broke my shoe, and we were covered in stickers.
That is seriously hard work!

But I loved every minute of it and my best friend is a babe, so taking pictures of her was a complete breeze.

She is submitting these pictures to a few magazines for print ads, and if they pick her as their model, I might actually get photo cred in their magazine.

Not bad for a fake photographer.
