Boots & Shadows

Today I crafted all.day.long.
While my sweet pregnant sister sat next to me keeping me company.
I love days where it's just me & her.
(With the sounds of our kids playing together in the background).
She ate nacho fries,
while I sewed and made about a dozen mistakes.
Do you ever just have bad sewing days?
It's like a bad hair day.
Later that day the boys and I went outside to play.
Ayden & Lucas live in their boots,
And they will all skateboard for hours.

While they skated, I practiced taking pictures (and doing cartwheels) in the magic hour, where the shadows are long and the sun is low.
It's my favorite time of day!
Have a great weekend!

Practice x2

So this week in my quest to take a better picture, I practiced some more on my trio.

What I realized that when taking pictures of kids with props you have to expect the unexpected.
The balloons WILL pop.
One will have a goofy face,
my baby will want to explore the hobo' playground,
and he couldn't for the life of him stand on the crate?

But in the end, I think I got some really great "quirky" photos of them.

Practice

One of my goals before I turned 30 was to learn to take a manual photo.
Well 30 came and went...and nada.

So this week I decided to take my camera and the manual and make friends.

And today I played with shutter speed...

Some are pretty rough, and I need a TON of practice.
Man it's hard not using auto! But my kids are cute.

Fake Photographer

Yesterday I played "photographer."
Pretending is so much fun.

We ran around Oak Glen and trespassed to find the perfect spot, I broke my shoe, and we were covered in stickers.
That is seriously hard work!

But I loved every minute of it and my best friend is a babe, so taking pictures of her was a complete breeze.

She is submitting these pictures to a few magazines for print ads, and if they pick her as their model, I might actually get photo cred in their magazine.

Not bad for a fake photographer.
