Fisher Foto Friday

Fisher Foto Friday: a picture every Friday of a few things I love at our home and want to always remember.

in order from left to right: walkway made up of stones from the original driveway when the house was built in 1910, the tree the boys climbed in and ayden fell from, a homemade fire pit engraved with our names and our family orange tree that Kyle & I planted on our honeymoon.

What I'm Eating? Toddler Food Friday

My toddler is a serious eater.
He'll eat just about anything that lands in front of him or whatever he sees you eating.
He can smell food a mile away.

And his taste for food is always changing.

So I thought it would be fun to start a new feature each Friday called, "What I'm eating?"

I know as moms it's always fun to see what other moms feed their kids. And get a few new recipes to add to your mommy recipe arsenal.

Right now Lucas devours this stuff.
We call it pasta balls in our house.
The boys love it.
And I could probably eat the whole box by myself if left alone.

It's Israeli Couscous.
And it's fast, simple and so easy to make.

Here is how we make it:

Saute 1 shallot and 1 garlic clove in 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil.
Empty your box of Israeli Couscous into the pan and saute until the couscous turns a light brown color.

Fill pan with 1 and 3/4 of liquid (you can use water, chicken stock, vegetable stock...whatever you have on hand. I always use stock. It adds so much flavor).
Season to taste.

Bring to a boil.
Cover & cook on low until most of the liquid is absorbed and couscous is soft.

Once it's done you can add pretty much anything to it.
It is so versatile.
I usually add whatever veggie I have on hand (broccoli, carrots, zucchini...)

And the boys love it topped with sprinkle cheese (Parmesan cheese).

so good.

Thrifty Thursday on Thursday!

For a such a long time now, Cathrineholm
has been on my list of Vintage finds.

Up until recently I have only drooled over these beautiful pieces of art/home decor/cookware from pictures.
But now I can actually call a piece my own!

It has seen better days, sadly.
But still so beautiful.
And I will always appreciate it's beauty and craftsmanship.

If you're interested, here is a little history on Cathrineholm enamelware.

You'll fall in love too, I just know it.

Day 2 & 3 without Daddy

We miss this guy!

But we are holding down the fort :)

As I type I am surrounded by boxes and the sound of American Idol (it is so good this year, right? I am loving Steven Tyler & Jenny from the block, who knew).

Funny things that happened today:

1) I was a housewife at home depot (my husband's favorite combo) ordering paint with a cart full of kids and boxes, and I actually got hit on. It was hilarious. It really was. That or he really felt sorry for me. haha!

2) Lucas has the funniest giggle in the world! He does it all day long and I get close to peeing my pants every time.

3) Oh and Brandon got trapped under our big brown trash can.
Living dangerously while doing chores.
Which really isn't funny, more sad, but who gets trapped under a trash can? It reminded me of a cartoon.
*I can report that he is perfectly fine, no wounds.

Day 1

Today was Day 1 without Daddy.
He's in Arizona painting a Mimi's Cafe.

And me...I am home packing our house for the big move.
I'm about 80% finished.
High five!

The boys just went to sleep.
For some reason they just did not want to go to bed tonight.

But today was good & productive.
I love these days.

Went thrifting (and found some beautiful vintage dresses for our shop...I'll show them to you on Thursday) and I ran into my sweet friend Heather. We seem to always be doing that. I love it.

We ate Phoencia before going to Trader Joes.
I love that place.
I could eat Greek food everyday.
Ayden ate chicken schwarma.
I told him it was a taco.
He fell for it.
Oh & Lucas loves humus.
He'll eat anything that boy.

PS- And Honey don't worry, I'm not scared.
I have a night light.

Thrifty Thursday (brought to you on Saturday)

Thrifting was really good this week.
Like almost "too good to be true".

Every week my thrifting list grows larger and larger.
It's getting really bad.
And mid century lamps has been taking up space on that list for a long time.

In desperate acts we've almost purchased a pair at an antique store, but became nauseous with the $300 price tags and ran away.

But on my last trip these were peeking out from a corner and I ran to them like a lost love.

I can't wait to use them.
They are so beautiful.

Kyle found this picture while thrifting.
It's going in the boys bathroom at the new house.
Because Booger is Ayden's best friend after all.
And this picture looks just like him.

Have a great weekend!!!

What I'm loving right now

Currently obsessed with:

  • This band. I can listen to their album over and over again. They are just.so.good. I haven't been this in love with a band in such a long time. They are playing in February in Vegas....I'm thinking the we need to take a road trip to see them? We haven't been to Las Vegas in about 4 years. Well deserved eh?
  • This outfit. It's so me :)
  • Finding this couch in this state. I don't think I've searched so hard for something in my life. I'm getting desperate.
  • And this. I never thought I would love working out as much as I do now since I started doing yoga about 4 months ago. I started out doing it once a week, and now I go 3 to 4 times. And I still crave more.
Oh and let's not forget about packing up our casa.
We move next weekend.
Why is it that before you move your old place just seems to bug you so bad?

I hope your week is going great :)

14 months

This boy of mine is 14 months!
Whoa.

Lately I feel like everyday is groundhog day.

Lucas climbs on a chair, a box, a toy, a table...
And I pull him off it.
Replay like 50 times each day.
AND I AM TIRED!!

But he's adorable and talks like crazy.

What he's sayin':

  • ma
  • da
  • bub
  • side
  • hi
  • bye
  • dog (well sorta)
It goes by so fast.

Party time

My friend Amber had a surprise birthday party for her husband.
My best friend came out for the party too. Which was so amazing.
We don't see each other as much as I know we wish we could.

We ate burritos and played Catchphrase.
While the husbands played pool.
Oh and Kyle showed us how to do the kid-n-play (remember that?).

It felt so good to hang with friends.
And then we got home at the geriatric hour of 10:30 pm.

I just can't stay awake any longer than that, I'm a grandma.
Plus staying up late makes me a grumpy, cranky mommy the next day and we don't want that.

Foto Friday

One of most favorite things about 26607 are these palm trees.
They were babies when we planted them,
and now they are HUGE.

Thrifty Thursday (a day late)

This beautiful chair was a really great Thrifty find.

Kyle worked magic getting it.
It was in a house that was up for sale.
He called the realtor,
who got the name of the owner, he called the owner,
and days later the owner finally called back.

It now sits next to our funky couch and the size difference is incredible.

People really were much smaller in the 50's.
And the furniture they make now is huge.

So next up on our list is a couch that fits our chair,
but shoot it's so hard to find a mid century couch that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

And we are outta here....

We got our new place!!!!
And we move in two weeks!

Last night I started thinking about actually leaving this house,
a house we started our family in,
brought home our babies,
and I started to feel a bit sad.

I know it's going to be so hard driving away from 26607.
It's funny how a house can become like a member of your family.
Just seeing it makes you feel relaxed.
And when we drive away for good I feel like we are abandoning apart of who we are...silly I know.

However, I am feeling so good about our new place.
It's exactly what we need right now, it's perfect.

And we will always have our memories of 26607.

So starting tomorrow I am going to start documenting all my favorite spots of this place...Fisher Family Foto Friday until our big move.

Now I've gotta start packing.

Thanks for all the well wishes friends!!!

Random

Yesterday (thanks to my brother in law and his talented picking skills), Kyle was able to purchase a beautiful mid century chair and headboard for our house!

And it felt so good to get rid of our old stanky chair!

Which makes us a lot closer to our goal of being 100% mid century in our house....I'd guess-timate we are about 70% now.
There's not a spindle leg I don't love, let me tell you!

I'll show pictures of them tomorrow!

And onto another random topic, we think we found a new place to live in Redlands right down the street from Brandon's school and so much bigger for so much less.
Good combination if you ask me.
We find out for sure in 3 days.
And if we get it we'll be moving at the end of the month.
Bittersweet...

I hope you all are having a great week!

Hostage Negotiations

Woody and Bullseye were kidnapped.

And I held hostage negotiations with the kidnapper over my iPhone.

Ayden was happy when they made it home safely.

365 Project

I'm really taking hold of my new year resolutions this wee ol'  2011.

I really love the idea of fresh starts,
new goals,
new ideas,
new beginnings...

But this year I'm digging a lil' deeper within myself and doing more things for me.

Like:

  • Wearing lipstick just because. Maybe for my Tuesday trips to Trader Joe's...who knows. The possibilities are endless.

  • Being with my friends more. Because they make me a better person. And I need to be better to them.

  • And I'm starting a new 365 project. But more on that later.

What are your resolutions this year?
Wanna wear a bright colored lipstick with me?

Big Sky

Yesterday we got back from San Diego.
The weather was amazing.
And I ate WAYYYY too much food.

Like I probably gained 10 pounds.
But it was worth it.
My sister and brother in law know how to do it.

Not to mention San Diego is such a beautiful place.

My beautiful boys.

My favorite fishers.

aannnnd they all posed like this without me asking them too.
pros.

Have I told you how much I love this girl?

Happy Birthday Gram!

Happy Birthday Gram,

I'm so sorry I couldn't make it out today for lunch.
I hope you had Carmen's and then a big slice of cake.

I love you so much.
I don't think I tell you enough how thankful I am for you.
How thankful I am that your my grandma.
I wouldn't be who I am today if not for you.

I remember thinking when I was little that you were an angel and how lucky I was that I get to be with you.
I still think that.
They just don't make'em like you anymore.
I wish they would :)

I'll see you soon.
Love you!

Riding Bikes with Boys

On Christmas Day, Ayden got a new bike with training wheels.

And the day after, he was riding his bike without them.

"He didn't need them," he said.

Sometimes I wish I learned things as fast as this boy!
