2010

Happy New Year!
I'm gonna try my hardest to stay awake until midnight.

...I always feel like I missed out on something special if I'm snoozin' when the ball drops!

See you next year!

Funny

This girl is funny!

She is my niece and has a serious sense of humor.

I went to visit her today, and she wanted to tell me a knock knock joke.

(She is 4 by the way).

"Knock Knock"

"Who's there?"

"Chicken"

"Chicken, Who?"

"The chicken that crossed the road, then got hit by a car!"

yes, its a little morbid but pretty darn funny.
she's so much like my sister.
I'm so thankful to be around to see that.

Count your blessings, life is too short.

Life

The other day we got into a lil' fender bender, with all 3 boys in the backseat and Ayden looks over to me and asks if he can sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Lil' Star" to Lucas?
I guess he was scared and thought Lucas might be scared too, so why not sing a song to wash our worries away!
Sometimes I get a lil' depressed being at home.
Not that I don't love being able to stay at home but being cooped up indoors for a few days makes my mind a bit wacky.
And then I see the fruit of my love in my boys in the lil' things they do to each other
and I realize that I'm here for a reason.
So I'll sacrifice my sanity for their fruit any day.

It's Over

Christmas that is.
It goes by fast.

I hope yours was great.
Full of lots of love.
Ours was great.
Lots of laughs and ham.
And I got a new green computer chair...
which means no more feet fallin' asleep!
(I was sitting on a small baby stool...ouch!)
with love,

And....

...He weighs in at 13 pounds!
Someone asked me how many months he was-
I think they expected 6 months, not 6 weeks.
He said, "Wow."
And (this one was the best...brace yourself), I also heard, "well thank goodness he's not a she...then there would be a problem?"
huh?
Who doesn't love a chubby baby?

Guns & Snowflakes

Tonight we made homemade hot cocoa & homemade donuts with raspberry dip...
They were so good.
Ayden was embarrassed that I made him wear an apron.

What can I say...I don't have a girl,
so I've gotta sneak in something girly every once in awhile.
You can't blame me for trying, right?
We then decided we were going to make snowflakes for our window...
but that soon became a DIY class on how to cut snowflake shaped guns & paper airplanes.

"We can't have gun shaped snowflakes," I say.
(but really in our neighborhood that probably wouldn't be out of the ordinary!)
But with my boys EVERYTHING is a gun.
Bread, sticks, chicken nuggets, toilet paper rolls...you name it.
Celebrating Xmas with a household of boys
full of testosterone has it's perks.

Charlie Brown Xmas Tree

Our Christmas tree looks like its straight out of Charlie Brown! haha

It's little, crooked, & bare.

Poor tree. But we showed it some love.

I really wanted a white tree, but I got vetoed. boo.

My boys!

Look at our tree!!

Ahhh! It makes me laugh.

Oh my, these faces!

So crooked.

Oh my poor, poor tree.

That's what I get for buying a fake tree on clearance.

haha!

Celebration

Okay, I've gotta make this quick.

I am babysitting my 1 year old nephew today!
Whew, he's into everything. I forgot how fast those lil' guys are. haha!

Anyway, I wanted to post our family Advent Calender.
It was fun to make & only cost a few buckaroo's!

Christmas this year is all about going back to basics.
Not a lot of money will do that to you (all away across the board) but I think it's great!
Lack of money enables creativity to shine & makes you REALLY look at the true meaning of Christmas, rather than how many presents are under the tree.

Here are a few of the things we will be doing to celebrate the coming holiday:

Drink hot cocoa with homemade marshmallows
Read the Christmas Bible story
Watch "It's a Wonderful Life"
Write letters to Santa
Donate a gift to a child in need
Donate food to a food drive
Make Xmas cookies
Make a popcorn strand
Make Xmas cards
Decorate our Xmas tree
Listen to Xmas music & dance our buns off
Have a special dinner by candle light
Make Xmas candy

Anyway, it's nothing fancy, but we started this last year and the kids had so much fun.
I remember they prayed and thanked God that their mommy let them celebrate Xmas every day.
It's the lil' things in life, remember.
