"Those Boys"

When Ayden was a baby, I remember thinking to myself that, "we've got a wild one."
Stubborn, persistent, and in to everything.

Then Lucas became a toddler...and turned our world upside down!
And makes toddler-hood with Ayden seem like a piece of cake.

Every moment with Lucas is GRAND.
He is one of "those boys."
You know the ones...
overflowing with energy,
gets into everything,
doesn't take no for an answer,
would rather wrestle than breathe,
only has one volume (LOUD),
and leaves Kyle & I completely breathless and exhausted by the end of the day.

Many moments at night, I would second guess who I am as a mother.
Comparing myself to other moms who "seem to have it all together" and are the image of perfection with their children.
Feeling inadequate and weak.

Now, maybe you are stronger than I am.
Maybe you are one of those moms who has it all together.
Your children jump to attention at your every word.
Always polite to strangers.
Smile when you ask them to do chores.

But I know I am not alone.
There are so many times where we as moms think "We are alone."
That we are the only ones going thru these struggles.
That our weak spots have to be hidden.

But it's okay.
It's okay to fail.
It's okay that we aren't perfect.
These weaknesses only make us stronger.
We grow and mature from the moments.
Making us better mothers.

My boys will always be high spirited.
And I love every ounce of that spirit.
They live life to the fullest,
and if that means I am exhausted and bone tired by day end...
then it's all worth it.

Linked here from Sometimes Sweet. I must say that I have "high spirited" boys, too, and I often find myself wondering what I'm doing wrong. Going into public isn't always the best experience, but, like you, I love my boys and their energy!

Thanks for writing this helps to know that I'm not alone. Little boys are adorable, and they LOVE life and can't hold back!

Good luck to you, and thanks for the inspiration!

I also have "one of those boys" haha. He recently discovered jumping off of things, how to open chocolate bars and how to RUN, and he is FAST. Sometimes it's exhausting yes, and I usually look pretty crazy running around keeping out of imminent danger, but I'm thankful for his sence of sprit, it will help him be a leader when he older. Good luck to you!

Hi, I'm visiting via Sometimes Sweet. Oh, man, how I can relate to this post!! A lot of evenings after the boys are in bed my husband and I ask each other through our exhaustion, 'ok, how could we have done that better?' I guess the answer is that we did the best we could that day. :)

Love your space here!

I just read this from a link from Sometimes Sweet. I NEEDED this! My son is horribly stubborn. Nothing scares him, everyday is a battle from putting on shoes to brushing his teeth, he thinks he owns everything (stores, my makeup, you name it)... I have been really hard on myself lately. Maybe I should take parenting classes? Maybe I shouldn't have any more kids because I have no clue what I'm doing... It's nice to hear from real people who aren't perfect and cookie-cutter mommies who have all their ish together, bla, bla...
