Stuffed

I made these lil' guys over the weekend.
And the monster worms make me laugh everytime.

As I was making them I was really hoping that the sweet faces I was giving these too as a birthday present... would love them just as much as I did...

Handmade translates to love (for me anyway), and I always worry that if it's not a light saber or a my lil' pony they won't love it...but they did!
They always give them alil' squeeze.
Which makes me smile.
Phew!!

A Trio Necklace

I made this the other day.

A necklace: with sihlouettes of the boys.
It turned out better than I expected.
I love when crafts do that.

Fox

My sweet niece turned 5 last week and for her birthday I made her a purple fox.

It took me so long I (almost) gave up &

went to the store and bought her something.

But it's cuteness made up for the hair I was pulling out by the time I stitched the last stitch. 

And she's definitely worth it!

Helping

The other day I was able to sit down at my sewing machine while Lucas took an extra long nap to finish a project for a friend.


She is having an online fundraiser to help raise money to bring home their sweet baby girl from Ethiopia and I was so excited to help. 

I adore this girl & her family is so beautiful.
Not to mention her & her husband are amazing photographers. 
They are taking our family photos and I can't wait! 
And her blog is one of my favorite daily reads! 

 



Sometimes we have opportunities to be a part of something so beautiful in the blogging community and this is one of those things!

Fast towel upcycle

The other day at my friendly neighborhood thrift store, I ran across these very bright and oh so amazing vintage towels.

Normally I don't trust buying linens at a thrift store (I'm just not a huge fan of bed bugs) but these looked like they had never been used so I went for it. I live dangerously.

Plus I wanted them for decoration, not to wipe my wet fanny after getting out of the shower, so I spent the $2.00 they were asking for the set.

And I love them, but they needed more.

So I sewed on some white pom-poms.

And now I love them even more!

Plus it took a whole 5 minutes to do and those are the crafts that I love the most.

How to plant Succulents!

Because they are beautiful and "kill proof", they are by far my favorite thing to plant, and since it's spring time I thought I'd share my tips with you on how I plant mine.

 Tip # 1: I always buy succulents in sets of 3's:
1 focal succulent, 1 structural and 1 textural.

How can you tell the difference you ask? Easy!

Focal Succulents are usually taller or bigger than the other varieties. They bring the height to your design.
Structural Succulents are more hardy looking and have a sleek modern looking design.
Textural Succulents are the more delicate, low lying succulents.
 
Supplies
1 pot/cup/mug/bowl/dish (it does not need to have drainage holes)
Potting soil
3 succulents

in order: structural, textural & focal.

Fill the bottom of your pot with potting soil.

Now you can start planting.
I always put textural succulents in front, if not they might get lost behind the more hardy plants.

And that's it!

Easy enough right?

How to care for your succulents:

1) MIST them with water when the soil is dry. They do not require a serious hose down. Just a light mist from a spray bottle is all they need.

2) And sunshine, outside is perfect or next to a bright window.

How to fix a broken eyeshadow...

While fixing a few broken eyeshadows today, it dawned on me that I should share this "how to" with you.


Because if you are like me, whenever an eyeshadow breaks...you kinda think about crying. Not anything serious, but maybe a tear of two. 


So for your viewing pleasure, 
here is how you fix your broken eyeshadow.


What you need:  

• Alcohol (the higher the percentage the better. I use 91%)
• A quarter
• Your broken eyeshadow
• An eyedropper
• A piece of cloth (I'm using a baby washcloth)

Step 1:

Take your eyedropper and fill it up with alcohol.

And drop alcohol into your broken shadow.

It usually takes about 5-10 drops.

But if your eyeshadow is broken pretty bad, you might need more than 10 drops. 

You want to moisten your shadow, not drench it!

Step 2:

Take your quarter and place it into your fabric.

Twist the fabric around the quarter. 

(I use the cloth because quarters are dirty lil' things, and you do not want that dirt on your eyeshadow)

Step 3:

Take your quarter twisted in fabric & press it into your broken shadow.

(A quarter fits perfectly in a MAC eyeshadow)

Now press firmly.  

Use all your strength. 

I know you can do it!

Hold it there for a few, you're helping the eyeshadow reset itself & letting the alcohol work it's magic.

Now remove the cloth & your done!

(your shadow will still be wet, so the color will be slightly off. It dries fast, so do not fear.)
